A professional bodybuilder, an internationally accredited personal trainer and an entrepreneur, Joan Liew started her fitness journey at the age of 17.
In 1998, she began her career as a personal trainer and by 2000, she earned her first Gold Medal in her debut bodybuilding competition at the Asian Bodybuilding Championships. Joan has since been managing fitness gyms around the region. In 2005, Joan co- founded boutique fitness gym, Fitness Factory, providing tailored fitness solutions with personal training and nutrition consultations for individual clients.
Joan is 5x Gold Medallist in various USA and Asian competitions, and she is the first Singaporean athlete to win the most prestigious Arnold Amateur in the USA at the Women’s Physique category in 2014 and 2016. Joan is also the first Singaporean athlete to be awarded the IFBB Pro Card in 2017. Joan also served as a judge to several local and international bodybuilding competitions. Joan sits in the technical committee in NSCA Global Chapter Singapore, served in the Advisory Board for various fitness publications, and lectures at various personal trainer certification courses.
In her continuous journey of sharing her knowledge and building a community of health and fitness, Joan published “The Skinny Sumo Wrestler.” She started the first health & fitness podcast, JOANTalks, which covers a spectrum of topics related to health and fitness. With her vast experience and dedication, Joan Liew stands as an inspirational figure in the fitness industry.
