Fibers are used to craft Linen, and cloth is used in crafting so many items in New World that you will need it a lot. The good news is that Fiber is harvested from Hemp plants and Hemp is almost everywhere, even better – most of the time Hemp plants grow in clusters, so huge amounts can be harvested very quickly. You can harvest Fibers starting from harvesting level 0, but to track it on your Hud you will need to level up your harvesting skill to 100. The best place for Hemp is south of Windswards fort and that’s right between Everall and Windsward, there are huge fields of Hemp plant clusters, so you will easily and quickly fill your inventory if you go there, as you can see the area where you can find Hemp plants is huge. Also here you can find a lot of Herb plants that are used in food and potion crafting, just look for Herbs under trees there. Herbs also are found in clusters and even if you don’t need them you can always sell herbs for extra gold, they are usually in demand. On top of that, this location is a great early game rawhide farm if you can kill level 20 bisons, however, same as with Mining – I would advise you to level up your character first and only after that start any serious harvesting. The main reason is the speed and amount of resources that you get – with tier 5 sickle you have almost 1000% harvesting speed, add here extra 30% resource gain perk on your sickle, 3 satchels that can increase your carrying capacity over 1200 and you get the point. I, personally wouldn’t do any harvesting before level 20 when players can equip level 3 sickle, but for the most efficient harvesting, you need to be character level 50. Still, this is the best place to farm hemp, herbs, and bisons early on so use it, the only downside here is the location – it is between Windsward and Everfall so expect heavy human traffic here. But don’t worry, Hemp plants can be found in most territories, just look for tall pink-ish flowers that usually grow in clusters.
Let’s move to tier 2 fiber called Silk. To harvest silk you have to be level 180 in harvesting and to track it on your hud even higher – level 205. There are some lonely silk nodes here and there, like in Brightwood or Weavers fen, but to get most out of silk farming you will have to go all the way north of Mourningblade, as a bonus, there you can find some starmetal and a corn farm. I would recommend being at least character level 35 to move freely there – just too many enemies are lurking around, and the difference between tier 4 and 5 armor, weapons, and tools is huge. Here you will find many silk plant spots fairly close to each other and each with multiple silk nodes so filling your inventory will be no issue, the problem will be if you want to sell it at the central trading hub which usually is at Everfall, long walk, but I would definitely have an active inn or one of my houses in Mourninblade. Silkweed looks identical to Hemp plants just has this glowing blue light, so it is hard to miss it, even in heavy rain. And at this point, you really should have a sickle with extra resource gain perk.
And finally, to harvest tier 3 fiber called Wirefiber, you will need to be level 250 in harvesting, and to track it you need to be level 305. If you want to get more than lone nodes that also can be found here and there like in weavers fen, or great cleave then you will have to go all the way north-west into Shattered Mountain, there is a lake where you can find several nodes close together but there are many high-level enemies around so don’t even try going there before reaching character level of 50 and equipping best armor and weapons that you can afford. The one issue here, as you can see, is multiple level 65 breaches, those might spawn on top of wirefiber and remove those nodes until this breach is closed.
