“Non-toxic” wine and “clean” alcohol is peak wellness nonsense.
I’m not sure how they missed the irony of fearmongering over additives in a literal known carcinogen that people regularly consume at toxic levels for its intoxicating effects.
The alcohol industry has done a great job of flying under the radar when it comes to consumer concerns about “toxins” and “carcinogens.” It seems like there are more concerns about ppb levels of pesticide residues on non-organic produce or “ingredients you can’t pronounce” than there are about consuming a substance that is a literal known carcinogen.

The World Health Organization has now published a statement in The Lancet Public Health: when it comes to alcohol consumption, there is no safe amount that does not affect health. https://www.who.int/europe/news/item/04-01-2023-no-level-of-alcohol-consumption-is-safe-for-our-health
New Canadian Centre on Substance Abuse (CCSA) guidance provides a continuum of risk associated with various levels of alcohol use, which defines the health and safety risks associated with drinking as negligible-to-low for people who have two standard drinks or less per week; moderate for those who have between three and six standard drinks per week; and increasingly high for those who consume more than six standard drinks per week.
To minimize the risk associated with drinking, the CCSA recommends consuming no more than two alcoholic drinks per week, a significant reduction from the previous cap of 15 drinks for men and 10 drinks for women.
