The kidnapping and murder of four Americans in Mexico is throwing a harsh spotlight on the billion-dollar business of medical tourism. Latavia McGee traveled with three male companions from South Carolina to Matamoros, Mexico, for a tummy tuck procedure. Fifteen minutes from the doctor’s office, their rented SUV was fired on by gunmen from a drug cartel. Two of the men were found dead and the third was severely wounded. McGee was reportedly unharmed.
