Orange City Fire Department Health & Wellness Program Promotional Video

Dear Prospective Donor:

Imagine a world where first responders receive treatment like the athletes they are. Where the red tape is removed, and our heroes get the care they deserve. Where injury prevention, wellness and rehab are delivered on site by a movement expert, improving access to care and decreasing costs. A world where you know every first responder is physically ready to help you and your family when you need it most.

Tactical Athlete Performance & Physical Therapy Specialists, Inc. (TAP Physical Therapy) is a veteran owned business started by Dr. Nick Detrick to bring this type of healthcare model to reality for Fire and Police Departments. This model stems from lessons learned while serving as a Physical Therapist in the United States Air Force where he had the opportunity to create and lead an embedded wellness program for members of an Explosive Ordnance Disposal unit. The success of the program resulted in an Air Force level medal for his team due to their reduced injury rates, increased ‘return to duty’ times, and overall positive impact on the unit’s readiness.

This program has proven to be a success within the military and now we have a chance to integrate this model into a civilian environment. The Orange City Fire Department has agreed to partner for a proof-of-concept study. This trial will help demonstrate the impact of having a preventative program designed by an embedded medical professional who understands the physical and mental demands of the job. A higher level of care will ultimately save tax-payer money by reducing the costs associated with injuries such as worker’s comp claims for industrial leave and over-time pay to cover injured workers. We have a team willing to lead the change from reactive healthcare to proactive healthcare and an opportunity to prove the effectiveness of the model. But we need your help… Please support this initiative by donating to the OFD Health and Wellness Program and help our first responders TAP into their potential.

Your tax-deductible donation will be used to have an onsite Physical Therapist perform technology-based injury risk assessments, deliver evidence-based group and individual treatment plans, and provide frequent educational courses for first responders to learn how to better maintain a high level of health and wellness throughout their careers.
