Cannabis News: $236 Million In Illicit Substances Seized By U.S. Coast Guard And Partner Nations

In Port Everglades, Florida, located in Fort Lauderdale, personnel of the U.S. Coast Guard vessel Vigilant unloaded illicit substances supposedly worth roughly US$236 million.

After a 45-day search throughout the Eastern Pacific Ocean, personnel unloaded upwards of 12,000 pounds of cocaine and over 5,000 pounds of cannabis. The Vigilant was trailed by a U.S. Coast Guard crime control unit, enabling investigators to conduct law enforcement activities in international seas. Seventeen alleged narcotics smugglers have been apprehended.

Personnel from the Vigilant, the USCGC Tampa, and the Royal Canadian Navy confiscated the contraband in international seas off the shores of Mexico, Central America, and South America. To counter cross-border crime, a number of U.S. and allied country authorities collaborate with one another.
