Behind the scenes: Alabama's battle over medical marijuana licenses

Alabama’s Department of Public Health has denied four proposed medical marijuana dispensary licenses, citing what it terms as a failed selection process. The four dispensaries had applied last year, but DPH is now arguing that the applicants did not meet required qualifications. The dispute comes as Alabama moves to legalize medical marijuana through a voter referendum.
