The first ever winners of the Dr. John C. Lipman Health & Wellness Award are Dr. Alonzo Sexton, M.D. and Dr. Garrison Whitaker, M.D., who are the Owners and Co-Founders of ATL Orthopedics! On behalf of ATL Orthopedics, Dr. Alonzo Sexton M.D. accepted this honor at The 12th Annual RICE Awards at Atlanta City Hall on September 24, 2022. The award was presented by Dr. John C. Lipman, M.D. himself. Dr. Lipman is also Co-Chairman of The RICE Awards.
Dr. Alonzo Sexton has served as the team physician for the New York Jets, the University of Georgia and Georgia State throughout a career that began in 2006. He is board-certified in orthopedic surgery, fellowship trained in sports medicine and specializes in the operative and non-operative treatment of sports injuries and musculoskeletal disorders. He prides himself on serving each patient with personalized care while offering the latest treatment modalities in sports medicine.
Dr. Garrison Whitaker is a board-certified, fellowship-trained Hand and Microvascular surgeon who has been in practice since 2008. Dr. Whitaker takes pride in providing informed, sympathetic and compassionate surgical options and opinions for his patients. While completing his fellowship in Hand surgery, Dr. Whitaker was part of a team that completed the first successful hand transplantation in the United States. He is a member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand.
