Far off the grid surrounded by lush rainforests lies Australia’s infamous cannabis triangle, here sits Australia’s Bohemian and counter-culture headquarters, the one and only Nimbin, dozens of pot connoisseurs descend on a quiet and secluded spot with one common interest, Cannabis.
The 2021 cannabis cup kicked off without a hitch with the usual multi-day format shortened to a one-day event and with extra sanitary measures implemented due to covid.
The Australian Cannabis Cup has been running for over 25 years and pre-dates Australia’s fanatical legislation that once saw people imprisoned for the same thing we embrace medically and commercially today.
Attracting all walks of life from all ends of the country the contest sees a mixture of outdoor and hydroponic flowers, hash and extracts going head to head to see whose reigns supreme. With separate divisions to judge a multitude of hash and extract entries respectively.
While still in a hazy legal climate due to permits and prescriptions, this event only represents a portion of what Australia has to offer.
Patrons were given the opportunity to sample and then vote on their favourite 3 buds, 3 hash and 2 extract selections. With trophies awarded to the respective winners of each individual category.
