In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxDelthorneWomen, where x = independently organized TED event.
TEDxDelthorneWomen was executive produced, curated and hosted by Sonali Fiske, Founder of BIWoC Revolutionaries Take the Mic, a Talk Show Host on Rukus Avenue Radio, and a TEDx speaker herself.
With our theme, Revolutionize, we’re about shining a light on the voices that are reimagining a new and just society through a revolutionary lens. Not just from a space of dismantling tired, old concepts and fighting oppressive views, but implanting fresh seeds rooted in new imaginings, curiosity and right relationship. Jelan Agnew, LCSW is a psychotherapist, professor, facilitator and public speaker, with 16 years in the mental health field. She is the founder of Nalej of Self, LLC, a private practice dedicated to addressing Black generational trauma, identifying cycles/patterns and creating new ways of being through healing Mind, Body, Spirit.
Jelan’s work is committed to healing trauma within the Black community.
In addition to her work in the field, she’s open about her own struggles with Depression and Anxiety, and takes pride in saying, “I am a Black therapist, with a Black therapist”, as a means to destigmatize mental health.
Jelan, a Brooklyn native and Hartford resident, sees authenticity as a superpower and freedom as the ultimate life goal. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
