🚨 Big Cannabis Legalization News! A GOP-controlled House committee just voted to remove important marijuana banking protections from a major spending bill. 🏦❌
Originally, the bill had rules to stop federal regulators from punishing banks that work with legal cannabis businesses. 🌿💼 But on Thursday, the full House Appropriations Committee decided to take those protections out.
Rep. Dave Joyce (R-OH) 🇺🇸, who leads the Congressional Cannabis Caucus and supports marijuana banking laws, had included these protections. Even though they were removed, Joyce promises to keep fighting for them. He believes it’s time for the federal government to respect states’ decisions on cannabis. 🗳️✨
Rep. Steny Hoyer (D-MD) spoke against the removal. He said the banking protections are crucial because they help legal cannabis businesses use banks safely. 💰🔒 Hoyer and Joyce both hope to bring these protections back in the future.
