The FDA and CDC have published consumer cautions recently regarding the possible hazards of the cannabinoid delta-8 THC, a psychoactive chemical compound produced synthetically with CBD from legal hemp that has surged in prominence but is regulated in a particularly hazy manner.
Some delta-8 goods are marketed as “hemp,” which may confuse customers looking for non-psychoactive cannabinoids. From December 2020 to July 2021, the FDA stated it received 22 safety incident claims from persons who had symptoms like “vomiting, hallucinations, trouble standing, and loss of consciousness.”
As of August, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Kentucky, Idaho, Iowa, Michigan, Mississippi, Montana, New York, North Dakota, Rhode Island, Utah, Vermont, and Washington have either restricted or fully prohibited the retail sale of delta-8 THC.
Other states, such as Alabama, Illinois, and Oklahoma, are considering statutory prohibitions and regulation adjustments.
Our question for you is: What are your thoughts on delta-8 THC? Let us know in the comments!
