Cannabis Edibles For Seniors
Older adults generally have a lower tolerance for THC than the market is used to and this creates a demand for low-dose products. Older adults choose cannabis-infused edibles such as gummies or other confections products because they are discreet, comfortable to administrate and in many cases the dose can be easy to control. The laws governing what is a standard dose of THC for an edible and vary from state to state.
o In, for example, the definition of one edible dose is 10 mg.
o While in Oregon, edibles must be divisible into 5 mg a serving.
o IFY- 5 mg. of THC is considered a low dose for an edible, but too high for seniors
If some seniors want psychoactivity effect, 2.5 mg. of THC or under can be a good place to start. Compared to smoking cannabis, where the effects are felt almost immediately, the effect from eating cannabis takes much longer – sometimes up to 2 hours. But, when it hits, the effect takes longer than smoking.
