Via a new blog post, the U.S. Air Force advised its personnel not to carry their dog’s CBD-infused shampoo into federal military facilities. Although hemp and its components are lawful under federal statute, and additional states have legalized cannabis, a military base in Massachusetts warned that having or utilizing cannabis goods would lead to punitive proceedings.
Although the alert was sent to a specific Air Force base, the notice is similar to previous announcements by the military branch, which has taken great lengths to clarify its policy on cannabis.
The Air Force issued a similar warning about CBD goods that are widely available on the market about a year following the federal legalization of hemp. The sweeping prohibition is in place because certain items which contain small THC amounts may register in a drug check, according to the statement. The Air Force had previously stated that its personnel should be particularly cautious when handling “grandma’s miracle sticky buns,” which may include cannabis.
“Hemp, CBD and traces of THC can be found in a number of products like shampoos, lotions, and lip balms that you can buy in the open market, but you can’t bring them onto the installation. Even if it’s for your pet, it’s still illegal,” said Tech. Sgt. Kyle Majorana.
Majorana added that the “line between state and federal laws begins and ends at our gates.”
