First up: In a report by PRNewswire, Canntab Therapeutics has planned the launch of a cannabis hard pill formulations in the Australian market. Included in the product line are pills with THC, CBD, and THC+CBD formulas.
In addition, Canntab’s hard pills will be included in Australia’s largest cannabis research study, conducted by Applied Cannabis Research. The purpose of the study, focusing on medical cannabis products, is to research their effects on conditions such as fibromyalgia, chronic pain, PTSD, epilipsy, and other mental health conditions.
Canntab plans to have its products distributed to medical facilities, doctors, pharmacies, and hospitals in Australia by the end of 2020.
And next: According to the owner of CBD Coffee in Tokyo, Japan, it appears as if the general opinion of cannabidiol is undergoing a shift in the country. This according to the Japan Times.
“There’s really a need for (a place like this),” says Kota Shimomura, owner of CBD Coffee, noting that the rise in telework has left many feeling isolated. “People don’t have others around them they can talk to, and in Japan there are lots of one-room apartments. I truly understand the need people who don’t have (support) have for this kind of store, where they can do things like relax and detox.”
Shimomura predicts that within the next five years, the CBD market in Japan is “certainly going to be bigger than tobacco.”
Companies such as HealthyTokyo agree. Founded by former health professional Michael Bobrove, the company has been importing CBD to Japan since 2016, where it sells oils, edibles, and pet products in both Harajuku and Haneda Airports.

Last up: In a report by Marijuana Moment, Senators from Oregon are challenging the proposed hemp regulations set forth by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).
The DEA released hemp regulations in August, citing that they were meant to comply with the 2018 Farm Bill that federally legalized hemp. However, industry professionals have raised concerns that the regulations might put “processors at risk of violating federal law and hamper the industry’s growth.”
The regulations effectively label hemp as a “Schedule 1 controlled substance at any point its THC content exceeds 0.3% THC,” said Senators Ron Wyden and Jeff Merkley in a letter. “In effect, the [DEA] criminalizes the intermediate steps of hemp processing, which is wholly inconsistent with Congress’s clearly stated purpose and the text of the 2018 Farm Bill.”
