Cannabidiol (CBD) is a naturally occurring constituent of industrial hemp and hemp oil. It is the most abundant non-psychoactive cannabinoid in hemp/cannabis. Hemp (as opposed to marijuana) is usually ideal for cannabidiol (CBD oil) extractions as it is naturally high in CBD and low in THC, making it superior to most high-THC marijuana strains as far as cannabidiol (CBD) content is concerned.
Because the CO2 extraction used to make our oils yields a FULL SPECTRUM extract, our oils contain much more than just the high amounts of CBD. Our CBD oils contain over 80 different phyto-cannabinoids, most prominently CBD, CBC, CBG, CBN, and CBD-A. In addition to the cannabinoids present in our hemp extracts, there are also amino acids, carbohydrates, vitamins (including B1, B2, B6, D), fatty acids (including omega 3 & 6), trace minerals (including iron, zinc, calcium, magnesium, potassium), beta-carotene, chlorophyll, flavanoids, ketones, nitrogenous compounds, alkanes, alcohols, glycosides, pigments, hemp seed oil, water, and terpenes.
We’ve systematically sought out the most beautiful and healthy EU certified hemp cultivars for our raw ingredients used in manufacturing, and we always test for purity and potency before and after manufacturing our final CBD oils.
Hemp, because of it’s innate ability to thrive so easily doesn’t require pesticides (the aromatic terpene compounds in hemp can actually act as natural pesticides), fertilizers, or herbicides in it’s cultivation, and requires much less water than standard commercial farming. The hemp we use is grown under the same methods and standards of organic farming, but at this time there is no actual legal procedure for the organic certification of hemp cultivation in the countries we import from. We’re expecting the process for organic certification of hemp to be available within hopefully a year, and we will officially certify our hemp derived CBD oils as soon as that’s possible.
To determine the purity and potency of every batch of CBD oil each extraction is analyzed through a High Pressure Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) test for aerobic organisms, yeast, fungus, E. coli, and heavy toxic metals, and is also analyzed for the cannabidiol (+ other cannabinoid) potency. Once our final CBD oil products are prepared we have them further analyzed for their potency and purity by a company based out of Massachusetts called Proverde Labs, who adheres to international ISO standards and whose head scientist is a recognized worldwide expert in the field of Supercritical Fluid and Convergence Chromatography (SFC and CC). With these multiple analyses performed we can weigh the Hemp/CBD extract for making our blends knowing that the cannabidiol content is pure and consistent throughout every batch of Hemp CBD oil we make.
