Committed to Black Wellness and Health



In response to the glaring racial disparity in birthing, with the maternal mortality rate for Black women over three times higher than for white women, Los Angeles-based public health network St. John’s Community Health launched “Committed to Black Wellness and Health.” Black doctors and staff lead the program and provide intensive case management, behavioral healthcare, pre- and post-natal healthcare, weekly group sessions, and free supplies such as diapers and car seats.
