The Drug Enforcement Administration has informed Congress that it is considering relaxing marijuana restrictions as part of its focus on enforcing national drug laws.
This is the first time the DEA has made such a proposal to lawmakers, and it comes as states continue to experiment with marijuana laws. In a letter to the House and Senate Committees on the Judiciary, the DEA said that it is “vigorously co-operating” with state governments that have legalized marijuana, but that it still views the drug as illegal under federal law.
