EMCDDA webinar: Cannabis control approaches across Europe

The second in our cannabis webinar series will focus on the debate around cannabis control approaches across Europe. It will aim to clarify concepts such as depenalisation, decriminalisation and legalisation.

Background: Cannabis is the most widely used illicit drug in Europe and globally. Responses are becoming more varied and complex, more jurisdictions in the Americas allow production and sale, and a few countries in Europe examine options of controlled supply, while others reduce the penalties for offences. An increasing range of novel forms of the drug is now seen on the market. Most health and social concerns remain focused on cannabis consumption.

Objectives: This webinar will include discussions with key experts on the current debate in some European countries on models of cannabis control and their implications.
