Army Public Schools & Colleges System is the pioneer school system in Pakistan to launch a designated emotional health programme for the capacity building and enhancement of students’ emotional wellbeing, self-esteem, personality, and skills to meet various day-to-day challenges. The Smiles Programme was launched in 2013 in all APSACS Regions to empower teachers and parents to play their important role in the emotional development of the students and for early detection of emotional and social difficulties that students might be facing. to date, APSAC has reached out to 8,685 teachers, students, and parents.

APSACS has leading psychologists of Pakistan on its panel who provide consultancy as well as training services to support the implementation of the Smiles Programme. Training of Trainers, Step Down Training, and Emotional Wellness Activities embedded in the curriculum are the effective aspects of the APSACS Stay Safe and Smile initiative.

Keeping in view the rising emotional health problems and concerns as an outcome of the ongoing pandemic, APSACS Research & Quality Assurance Deptt has planned a Series of Webinars under its flagship Emotional Health initiative – Smiles. Aim of these Webinars is to equip the participants to deal with the foreseeable emotional health concerns amongst themselves and students. APSACS also provided effective resources and support to the schools during Pandemic in the shape of Mental Wellbeing Guides, Videos, Articles and online availability of a psychologist; all these resources are accessible via APSACS Official Website.

Panelists:
1) Ms. Zehra Kamal is a Clinical Psychologist and has been associated with the Smiles Programme in various capacities since the launch of the programme. Ms Kamal has been working in the field of Psychology and practicing for the last 21 years and also holds a degree from Columbia University, NY, USA .
2) Ms. Nayab Chaudhary is a Clinical Psychologist and is managing APSACS Emotional Health Programme at the Department of Research & Quality Assurance. Ms Chaudhary has done her M.Phil in Clinical Psychology from NUST and has rich experience in the field of academia and psychology.
