On Parliament Hill, federal ministers Jean-Yves Duclos (health) and Carolyn Bennett (mental health and addictions) announce an expert panel will lead a review of the 2018 Cannabis Act. The ministers are joined by Morris Rosenberg, who will chair the independent panel, and Liberal MP Nathaniel Erskine-Smith. The review was required to take place in October 2021, three years after the government legalized recreational cannabis, but the process has been delayed. The government has 18 months to table the report in Parliament once the review begins. The scope of the review is being expanded to include an examination of the economic, social and environmental impacts of the Act.
