A Georgia state representative is looking to expand medical cannabis manufacturing in his state.
According to WGAU, Hart County Republican Alan Powell wants to make 13 licenses available.
The rules approved last month made room to eventually expand available licenses to six.
But the new approval would extend potential licenses to companies that filed a lawsuit after their applications were denied by the state.
Georgia’s Medical Cannabis Commission previously voted to allow two companies to grow, process and distribute low-THC extracts.
As the report points out, low-THC oil is legal to possess in Georgia but it’s still illegal for companies to bring it into the state.
Georgia still bans the sale of cannabis flower and edibles.
