Earlier this afternoon, Global News broke the story of another potential spy balloon over North America. Moments later, the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) shot down a high-altitude unidentified object, and this time it was over Canadian airspace above Yukon. Mercedes Stephenson has more.

The Friday night resignation of Toronto Mayor John Tory has left many in a state of shock after he admitted to a relationship with a city staffer. As Sean O’Shea reports, city councillors and members of the public alike say it was unexpected from Tory given the reputation he had built on both sides of the political spectrum.

In the village of Besni, Turkey, people were surprised to see a Global News team arrive because for four days, barely anyone else has – no rescue workers, no help – despite the fact that entire apartment buildings have collapsed with people trapped inside for days. Jackson Proskow has more.

Also, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s political leadership may now be in jeopardy amid anger over the magnitude of the devastation caused by Monday’s earthquake and his government’s response in the aftermath. Erdoğan called the election prior to the earthquake. It’s scheduled for May, but the disaster may have flipped the country’s political power upside-down. Eric Sorensen explains.
