Today is World Parkinson’s Awareness Day and in our newest story, we’re looking at how non-contact boxing fitness programs combined with fitness technology like the Impact Wrap heavy bag tracking platform, are helping people with this neurodegenerative disorder.
Non-contact, boxing-inspired fitness routines have proven to lessen the symptoms of Parkinson’s Disease (PD), slow the disease’s progression, and greatly improve quality of life. One of these boxing programs is Rock Steady Boxing (RSB), an international non-profit organization founded in 2006, of which Impact Wrap is proud to be an RSB affiliate partner!
A number of our client gyms and studios incorporate boxing programs specifically tailored for Parkinson’s Disease, such as RSB, and use Impact Wrap metrics to follow their participants’ progress and to motivate them. One studio, in particular, stands out, The Empowerment Neurofitness and Wellness Center (ENWC) in Virginia Beach, which is 100% dedicated to individuals living with neurological disorders, such as PD and Multiple Sclerosis. Owner Wendy Wilkerson, certified Medical Fitness Practitioner, and Founder and CEO of ENWC has been using #ImpactWrap to monitor her clients’ progress since 2021 and recently added our new integrated Heart Rate Monitoring feature.
Check out the story and learn more about non-contact boxing fitness programs like Rock Steady Boxing and how our #ImpactFam gyms and studios like The Empowerment Neurofitness and Wellness Center are using Impact Wrap metrics to monitor participants’ progress AND keep them motivated!
