Adult-use Cannabis is not legal in Texas. In 2015, the Texas Compassionate Use Act legalized high-CBD (at least 10%) and low-THC (no more than 0.5%) oil for epilepsy patients. In 2019, the law expanded to add several more conditions, but it is still extremely limited.
This is the first of many discussions with Shane Saum. Shane is the Director of Regulatory and Government Affairs for PrizePicks as well as a lobbyist. We discuss the current status of Cannabis and Hemp in Texas and take a look at current bills working their way through the Texas state legislator and the chances they have at actually passing and what that process looks like.
Until next time, keep growing and don’t forget to tip your budtender!
