Has anxiety become like a best friend that you can’t seem to detach from? It may seem strange at first but read on and things will feel a little more familiar to you.
If you’re leaning towards answering yes to my original question, don’t feel guilty about it or shame yourself into further victimhood. Rather, understand that sometimes we need to upgrade our relationships (even with our previous best friends) as our identity changes.
Therefore, you mustn’t continue to empower your old habit of looking for an element of anxiety as you go through the day. Rather, when the subtle or sometimes louder urge to do so comes up you consciously respond with…
“I’m putting you behind me for good!”
These are the magic words to carry with you as you move forward. These are the words that start as a ‘nice idea’ and over time turn into a full on core belief. Naturally, you will meet with a new internal best friend. Use these words anytime your unconscious side wants to pull you back into a familiar state of anxiety.
This new best friend may not reward you with the kind of irrational protection your old anxious best friend did, however it will give you a much greater sense of trust and faith. Over time, your self talk will be in alignment with a new you, rather than still connected to belief systems you’ve carried forward from your past.
This new best friend, this inner peace, will help you to deal with external or internal challenges swiftly, rather than branch from one catastrophic idea to the next as it used to be for you.
Today is a new day, a new opportunity. Bring your anxiousness with you today as you show it the new direction that your life is taking. As you bring your anxiousness with you, remember to consciously and firmly respond to any element of anxiety as it appears, rather than be led by it.
Remember, you are more than anxiety.
