Research about preventing FASD is advancing across the globe. We now have research about the many levels of prevention – on awareness building approaches, on safe and respectful conversations about alcohol use with women and their support networks, and on holistic support services for pregnant women and new mothers’ experiences alcohol problems and other health and social concerns. In this video, Dr. Annika Montag (USA) shares research on FASD prevention among reservation-based Indigenous populations, Dr. Jessica Hanson (USA) describes adaptations to the Project CHOICES for the Oglala Sioux Tribe, and Lindsay Wolfson (Canada) and Vivian Lyall (Australia) explore how to translate perceptions of alcohol use in pregnancy into successful interventions.

This video is part of our five-part international FASD prevention webinar series, Preventing Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder, Promoting Women’s Wellness. The series was coordinated by Lindsay Wolfson and Dr. Nancy Poole with support from Audrey McFarlane, Victoria Bailey, and Dr. Kelly Harding.
