The Northern River Masters qualifiers just keep coming, this time I’m match fishing on the River Aire at West Haddlesey in round 8 of the 2022 campaign to reach the final. The River Aire is a relatively new river to me and I’m just starting to learn the stretches but I had never seen the Leeds DASA stretch at West Haddlesey before. I gleaned a bit of knowledge from the previous weeks championship which suggested hemp and tares would likely be the bait to be on and roach would be the main stay.
Not knowing what to expect on arrival at my peg, I plumbed up and found a depth of around 8.5ft at 11m on the pole with the a fairly level bottom beyond that. I opted to setup a waggler as well to potentially fish beyond the pole line or over it but shallower with any hookbait the fish might decide they wanted on the day. With bright conditions, it didn’t favour feeder fishing for bream so this would be a last resort if the float lines didn’t produce.
Enjoy the video guys 👍🎣🐟
