Everyday, we face a deluge of grim news as global COVID-19 cases and deaths continue to rise. In this period of great uncertainty, it’s become clear that the pandemic’s impact extends beyond physical health. As we begin to adjust to the new normal, it has also taken a profound toll on our emotional well-being.
A household name in her native Philippines, Dr Gia Sison is an occupational medicine specialist who currently heads the Women’s Wellness Center in the Makati Medical Center hospital. She rose to national prominence in the early 2010s for her frank discussion on her mental health struggles as a breast cancer patient. Now a prominent mental health advocate, Dr Sison also hosts G Talks, a digital series on CNN Philippines.
