“NHS Can Change People’s Gender But Won’t Prescribe Cannabis”

A mother from Aylesham, Kent, who spends £2,000 a month on medicinal cannabis for her daughter, is urging the NHS to improve access to the drug.

Emma Appleby’s 15-year-old daughter, Teagan, uses medicinal cannabis to control seizures caused by severe epilepsy. Although the drug became legal in the UK six years ago, Appleby says it remains “impossible” to get it through the NHS.

The NHS stated it prescribes some licensed cannabis-based products for specific conditions, but many products aren’t available because their manufacturers haven’t completed the UK’s regulatory process.
