South Africans are divided over a proposed law that aims to cut the number of guns in circulation. The amended Firearms Control Act will ban people from getting a gun license for self-defense. Critics say the law is impractical and threatens peoples safety. But supporters say it could stop gun violence. There are 450,000 licensed fire-arms in South Africa, and 6 out 10 of them are held for self-defense purposes. DW’s Christine Mhundwa reports from Johannesburg.
