RUN DISNEY returns to DISNEYLAND Annoucement

Run Disney announced their upcoming race calendar for the 2023 / 2024 running season and there’s some BIG EXCITING NEWS about races returning to Disneyland. They originally dropped a hint at the D23 Expo, a Disney Fan event in September held in Anaheim, California. And finally this week they shared the details. Here’s everything we know right now…

Run Disney Races 2023 to 2024 calendar list

Races will return to Disneyland (in Anaheim, CA) in 2024. The last running weekend held at Disneyland was in 2017! It was the Super Heroes Half Marathon – I ran it and recapped it on the Run Eat Repeat Podcast and shared pics of the course on that post.

The Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend will return January 11-14, 2024. Registration opens February 7, 2023 for runDisney Gold & Platinum members, February 14, 2023 for general public and virtual events open February 17, 2023. There will be a 5K, 10K and Half Marathon race – plus a challenge option. And there will be a Coast to Coast Challenge.

The Coast to Coast Challenge in the past has been an extra medal awarded to runners who participate in races at Disney World (Orlando, FL) and Disneyland (Anaheim, CA). But they have not shared any details on this challenge’s requirements. The Walt Disney World Marathon weekend is the week before the Disneyland Half Marathon weekend – so it will be quite the travel miles and running miles challenge!

Here’s a list of all the Run Disney race weekend dates and locations they have on the schedule for 2023/2024. Note – I’m sharing ALL the upcoming races they have scheduled, including the ones they announced last season (which are already sold out). And the announcement shared upcoming Race Dates and Registration Dates, but did not include all of the distances or challenge requirements. They said further information is coming & I will share updates as that information is released. Follow @RunEatRepeat on Instagram so you don’t miss out.

To run a Run Disney event (any distance, any location – including virtual races) you can sign up on their site – RunDisney.com when registration opens. Their races are often listed in big race registration and calendar sites, but you cannot sign up on another site (there maybe rare exceptions if you’re running with a charity – but be sure it is legit).

They open registration months in advance of the race so you’ll have plenty of time to train and plan travel if you don’t live in the area. If you know you want to run one of these races be sure to put the registration open dates in your calendar as they tend to sell out popular distances quickly.

And the biggest tip is to be patient. I’ve seen a lot of posts on social media with runners saying the site is slow or glitchy when they’re trying to register. That can just mean it’s popular, right?
