Hemp looks like marijuana, smells like marijuana – but it is not marijuana. Hemp became legal under federal law on December 20, 2018. But that does not mean anyone can have it – the pilot programs from the previous farm bill, or state laws require hemp licensing and registration procedures.
The 2018 Farm bill expressly legalized not only hemp, as cannabis will 0.3% delta-9 THC or less, it also legalized its interstate transportation and shipping. Ensure your hemp shipment has a notice to law enforcement along with your certificates of analysis (COA) indicating your are legally compliant with your hemp shipment. Remember those drug dogs are smelling for terpenes in cannabis – not THC levels.
