Labour vows to finance NHS and school breakfast club initiatives by cracking down on tax dodgers, according to Shadow Chancellor Rachel Reeves.
The party aims to generate £5 billion annually by increasing resources for tax authorities.
This move comes as the party seeks to cover budget shortfalls resulting from the Government’s decision to abolish non-domiciled tax status. They plans to raise an additional £2.6 billion by closing loopholes in the ‘non-dom’ exemption elimination scheme.
Non-doms are individuals living in the UK but considered permanent residents elsewhere for tax purposes, allowing them to avoid UK taxes on foreign earnings.
