Coming to a lupus diagnosis can often take time, many consults and many, many blood tests. One of those blood tests will, inevitably, be the anti-Smith antibody, or Sm Antibody. But just like every other antibody test result in Rheumatology, the Smith antibody result is not black and white. When and how to best use this blood test is part of every rheumatologist’s training. But there are some basics you can arm yourself with in preparation for your doctor’s appointment.
