The bipartisan Congressional bill would allow hemp and CBD to be sold as dietary supplements

A bipartisan group of lawmakers reintroduced a bill in Congress on Thursday in which hemp and CBD derived from hemp would be marketed and sold as nutritional supplements.
The Hemp and Hemp-Derived CBD Consumer Protection and Market Stabilization Act is the third piece of cannabis legislation to have been filed in the new 117th Congress, and it provides federal agencies with the clarity they need to develop industry-specific rules for CBD marketing.

Representatives Kurt Schrader (D-OR) and Morgan Griffith (R-VA), who filed a similar proposal last year, suggested using hemp as a dietary ingredient in a dietary supplement under the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act.”

17 other co-sponsors have also signed onto the latest version of the legislation.
