The latest annual industry report on employment in the cannabis sector reveals that the number of full-time marijuana jobs in the U.S. has increased by nearly 5 percent over the past year. Despite this growth, the expansion of cannabis-related jobs hasn’t been evenly distributed across the country.
States like Michigan and Missouri have seen significant job growth in their cannabis industries, while more established markets like Colorado and Washington have experienced job losses. California, with its massive marijuana market, saw a decrease in jobs as well.
Factors contributing to these trends include oversupply of cannabis, changes in marijuana-related tourism, and market saturation in mature cannabis markets. However, the report remains optimistic about the industry’s future, projecting a turnaround in the next couple of years.
The report also provides insights into the salaries of various positions within the cannabis industry, highlighting the range of wages for roles such as trimmers, budtenders, and retail directors.
