US elections 2024: How Trump plans to exclude Indians in the US from minority programmes?

If Trump is re-elected President in November, his administration will likely end DEI jobs and contracts in the government. They might also pressure private employers and schools to stop their DEI programs and try to limit jobs for non-US citizens.

This could cause Indian Americans and Indians on work visas in the US to lose their jobs. Indian American businesses, which benefit from minority programs could also lose income.

In June 2023, the US Supreme Court ruled that using race for admissions at Harvard University and the University of North Carolina is unconstitutional.

Some Indian Americans welcomed this decision. According to The Quint, they find minority quotas in college admissions “hypocritical in a country that values merit above all else.” They also believe that Indian Americans have achieved a lot in the US in just a couple of generations without receiving special treatment from schools, colleges, or the government.
