Bill Walsh, from Arundel, ME, USA, explains the Wellness Exercises.
These Wellness Exercises were created by Master Yang Jun. They involve a series of movements divided into three parts with three movements or sections in each part. The exercises are based on tai chi chuan practise and principles. They comprise of fundamental tai chi movements starting with simple stationary ones to those that involve basic foot work.
In designing these exercises, Master Yang made the movements symmetrical, where both the right and left sides of the body are engaged equally, and in sync with breathing. Thus, through the Wellness Exercises one gains a basic understanding of full body coordination β the lower and upper body, the internal and external.
The Wellness Exercises are ideal for both the experienced tai chi chuan practitioner and those with no tai chi experience at all. These soft, gentle movements help limber the body, improve balance and calm yet focus the mind. And they require very little space to perform so can be done almost anywhere.
