Like Delta 8 THC, Delta 10 is an analog of Delta 9 THC (the one that’s still federally illegal). Delta 10 is very similar to D8 and D9 but is less effective at activating cannabinoid receptors in the brain and throughout the body, the mechanism that gets users stoned.
Delta 8 and Delta 10 have gained popularity seemingly overnight because they are sort of technically legal under the 2018 ‘Farm Bill,’ the federal legislation legalizing hemp or cannabis with 0.3% Delta 9 THC or less. Both D8 and D10 are operating in a legal grey area because lawmakers specifically wrote Delta 9 THC in the ‘Farm Bill.’ Even though both cannabinoids produce a similar high as marijuana, they are being treated as separate compounds.
Some states have already ended this nonsense by banning these compounds outside medical and recreational dispensaries. While it’s ridiculous that teenagers in Texas can order hemp flower online sprayed with THC, these compounds could prove to be beneficial. However, they need to be regulated the same way as Delta 9.
