Delta 8 THC is the latest cannabinoid to stir up controversy. States without medical or recreational cannabis programs are experiencing a tsunami of ‘legal,’ hemp-derived products featuring the trendy cannabis compound. Hemp cannabinoid retailers promise Delta 8 will produce a mild high, free of paranoia, stress, anxiety but with all the benefits of THC, delivered directly to your mailbox.

D8 is a less potent analog of THC. It exists naturally in cannabis plants but only in trace amounts and is most likely formed by degradation of THCA. The products available online are using CBD converted into D8 to infuse their products.

The Delta 8 issue exposes the ridiculous laws in the US and the urgency to federally legalize recreational cannabis. The ‘Farm Bill’ was passed to give people access to non-intoxicating cannabinoids with medical potential like CBD, not THC that isn’t technically THC but has the same effects. Retailers found a loophole in the system and are making a killing off untested products that get anyone with a credit card high.
