What is Environmental Health?

Environmental health works with the relationships between people and their environments. It is the public health field that monitors physical, chemical, and biological factors that we might not have control over, but that impact us. Poor air quality and air pollution have been linked with a decrease in happiness and life satisfaction, as well as lifespan. Unlike diet and exercise, environmental health is not something that can be addressed at the individual level. So what can you do? Environmental health scientists work in many different settings to work with all the different ways that nature and our surroundings impact us. At NYU GPH, we train the leaders of tomorrow to make environmental change and positively impact public health.
